Accessing the eLabs platform
  1.  What is eLabs?

ELabs is a platform that allows Campus users to connect remotely to the machines in the computer labs so that they can work with them as if they were present on the Campus. The eLabs platform allows IN-Campus and OFF-Campus students to share the computer lab by assigning on-demand machines to those OFF-Campus students who need them.

                This section will explain all the necessary steps to access the eLabs platform.

                4.1. Connect to the university network

To Access the platform you will need to go to https://elabs.salle.url.edu

We recommend Google Chrome to access the platform.

Safari may cause connection problems with the platform.

            

     Once you are inside the platform, you can log in using your university credentials.  

            - Username: your full email address (with the @).

                Example: drizzt.dourden@students.salle.url.edu

            - Password: Your usual password to access the university platforms.

    Once you have entered the data, click on "Login".

5. Choose the lab you want to join

    Once you have accessed the platform with your credentials, you will see the available eLabs to which you can connect.

                

    On this page, you only need to click on the lab icon you want to access

    Users with a bad connection

        If you do not have a good Internet connection, or if you find that your connection to the eLab is too slow, there is another way to access the eLabs which is explained below:

                    

        5.1    Click on the 3 horizontal stripes button at the top right of the eLab icon. When you click on it, a drop-down menu will appear that says "Connections".

                            

        5.2    Click on the button in the drop-down menu that says "Connections". A second dropdown menu will appear with 4 options.

               

        5.3    Click the option “HTML_Tunneled_Low_bandwidth”

6. You are already connected!

    Once you have accessed the eLab you wanted, your remote computer screen will appear. You can use this computer as if you were there in person.

                        

                            

7. How to close your session and disconnect

    Once you have finished using the computer, you must close your session.

    It is of the utmost importance that you close your session properly.

    Otherwise, your session will remain open in the remote computer. You should NEVER:

                        

    To disconnect from the computer, you must:

  1. Click on the Windows button at the bottom left of the screen
  2. Click on the "Power" or "Start/Shutdown" button.
  3. Click on the "Disconnect" button.

 

Accessing the iMacs lab (the NOMACHINE platform)
The process for accessing the iMacs lab is slightly different.
 

1. Once you have all the eLabs on your screen, you must click on the "Sala iMacs" icon as you would do with the rest of the eLabs.

        

2. Once you have clicked on the "Sala iMacs" icon, the platform will redirect you to the iMacs Room remote control tool (NOMACHINE).

            
Every single iMac will have:
        - The name of the iMac
        - The number of users remotely connected
3. To access an iMac, select an iMac not being used and click the "Connect" button.

                
4. After clicking the "Connect" button, you are now connected to that iMac.
                    

5. To close the session, you will need to:

        5.1 Move the mouse to the top-right corner of your display, until you see the symbol to show the menu options. Or click CTRL + ALT + 0.

                                        

        5.2 Once you see the connection menu, click on the "Connection" button.

                                    

        5.3 Once you have clicked on the "Connection" button, you must click on the "Disconnect" option.

                    

 

 

Access via RDP (better image quality)

If you need a better image quality for your connection to eLabs, we recommend that you use an RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) connection.

To do so, follow these steps.

  1. Go to https://elabs.salle.url.edu/ 
  2. Click on the section UDS Client.

    3. Download the software for your operating system.

                            

    4. Follow the step-by-step installation wizard

    5. Log in to eLabs with your credentials (see Step 2: Accessing the platform)

    6. Choose the eLab where to connect once they have appeared on your screen:

            6.1 Click on the 3 horizontal lines at the top right of the eLab icon. A menu with "Connections" will open.

            6.2 Click on the "Connections" button. A menu with 4 more options will open.

            6.3 Click on the "RDP_Tunneled" option

            

 

            You have accessed your eLab!
